FEDERAL LABOR COURT

The Erfurt Tribunal is conceived as a addition of places and buildings with its own architectural identity. The expression of the character of the building relies on the figure of the basilica, the ancient Roman place of exercising justice.
An apsidal basilica and a porticoed square conform the central axis of the ‘public access’ spaces; two- and three-story buildings with spaces for staff work conform four courtyards , arranged in pairs symmetrically to the central axis.
The complex of open and closed spaces are inscribed in a rectangular building, interrupted only by the open court in front of the entrance, which extends as a tree-lined square to the road. The figure of the basilica is presented to the city with its emerging bulk and its by the entrance courtyard uncovered side.
